Dr. Bonnie Jacobi

Bonnie Jacobi
Associate Professor of Music; Music Education; Director of Colorado Kodály Institute

Music education professor, Dr. Bonnie Jacobi, was selected to serve on a national panel for historical research in music education, which was held at the Normal Symposium for the History of Music Education in Normal, Illinois, in May 2023. The event was part of a scholarly research interest group within the National Association for Music Education (NAfME.org) that meets every other year; the panel invitation came from Dr. Marie McCarthy, editor of NAfME’s Journal of Historical Research in Music Education, at the University of Michigan.

The panel informed participants how to conduct historical research in music education, and according to the organization's website, includes "paper presentations, panel presentations, and musical performances. Organizers welcomed submissions on any topic related to the history of music education. The symposium was a friendly and encouraging environment for experienced scholars, graduate students, and emerging researchers alike."
